Ang Bandang Shirley kicks off their world tour in Fairview

We only found out that Ang Bandang Shirley was playing at the Pazar Events Space and Food Hub along Regalado Highway a few days before the event and were amused to find out that their performance is meant to kick off their world tour, which will take them to Eastwood on the 29th and Cebu in August. Fans have been clamoring for more dates, and there are even people offering to set things up for them to perform in Davao, Iloilo, New Jersey, and California.

The place had been filling up early in the evening, with other bands performing for the crowd, and Meshwe, which has a serious following, was already having trouble keeping up with the volume of shawarma orders. Diyalogo also sold stickers at a booth that they set up at the venue.

We got to Pazar before 9 pm, when the band was scheduled to come out, and ordered nachos and tacos at LV’s Foodie Goodie.

At 9:30 pm, Ang Bandang Shirley opened their set with “Taksil” and performing favorites like “Nakauwi Na” and newer tunes like “Favorite” and “Maginhawa.”

All in all, it was a great evening, a fun performance, and certainly a solid start to their tour.

  1. Hey hey Lynn!

It’s Matt’s other friend from Quezon City.

Checking out your blog and am pleasantly surprised to see Ang Bandang Shirley on it (coincidentally, I sent Matt a playlist I made for my husband that has Ang Bandang Shirley songs). They were one of the bands that played at our wedding back in 2008, good friends of mine 🙂

It’s nice to see someone writing about our city. I don’t think I have found other blogs focused on this part of Manila. One would think it is rather boring and you’ve featured how delightful our corner actually is.

I don’t have a lot to say for now other than it would be good to meet you one of these days 🙂
